Who we are and what we are doing: Structured Monitoring Products, Inc. (SMP) is a start-up business based in Florida developing technologies which can detect respiration and heart rates remotely--without contacting the person or animal. In Development: Remmo® is a patented non-contact monitoring system that easily and safely detects a child’s breathing using radio waves. http://www.remmobaby.com/ Remmo's story: Remmo was inspired by cofounder Dr. Rachna Choksi, a working mother of two. During the infancy of her second child, she became dissatisfied with the limitations of the baby monitors currently available on the market. Although her monitor had audio and video, she wanted to know for sure that her son was sleeping soundly: she wanted a better way to know that her son wasn't having any trouble breathing. Bringing her concerns to the attention of her husband and cofounder Karan Arora, together they reached out with cofounders Vikram Ramprakash and Vikram Sreeram, also new parents, to find and develop a better baby monitor technology. Their search led them to the University of Florida and the laboratory of Dr. Jenshan Lin. Dr. Lin has been working on wireless vital sign detection technologies since the early 2000's and his patents are at the core of Remmo.
