Early in my career I spent 13 years in book editing before becoming a broker. Editing was great and it gave me the idea for The Preservation Foundation, my nonprofit. Our goal is to "preserve the extraordinary works of 'ordinary' people." It was reading the autobiographies and biographies we got at Abingdon Press by the basket and would not publish (no market) that made me think that someone ought to make sure these life stories survived--thus the Preservation Foundation. We preserve them on our web site and have recently begun publishing them as E-Books on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
