Women's Project Theater is a New York-based performing arts organization dedicated to developing, producing, and promoting the work of female theater artists at every stage of their careers. It is located at 55 West End Avenue, New York, NY 10023, and operates within the performing arts sector. The organization employs 11-50 people and runs several programs, including the WP Lab (a two-year mentorship and development program for women playwrights, directors, and producers), the Playwright In Residence commissioning program, a Developmental series, and the Main Stage series of Off-Broadway productions directed by women artists. Over its 37-year history, WP Theater has produced more than 600 main stage productions and developmental projects and published 11 anthologies of plays by women. Recent activity includes the launch of The WP Space Program in 2021 to provide subsidized producing space, the A Seat of One's Own Campaign (announced in 2022), and leadership appointments such as Ayana Parker Morrison being named BOLD Associate Artistic Director in 2023.
