One thermostat in a home cannot control the comfort at ech end of the home or on different levels. The thermostat in all homes are centrally located and this creates the temperature differences between rooms and floors. Zoning saves as much as 30% on heating and cooling cost also by allowing one to hut off the unused rooms or zones and only heating or cooling the occupied zones. ZONEFIRST and its previous trade name Trol-A-Temp, TAT was acquired by Honeywell in 1999, is the first compnay to successfully develop and market zoning systems in the US, starting in 1964. The company's founder founder actually developed the first motorized dampers, registers and diffusers in the late 1950s.
