LCEC is a not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative based in North Fort Myers, Florida. It serves five counties in Southwest Florida with a membership nearing 250,000. Founded in 1940 to serve areas no other utility wanted to serve, LCEC serves communities including Cape Coral, Marco Island, Sanibel-Captiva, Everglades City, North Fort Myers, Immokalee, Ave Maria, and Lehigh Acres. In addition to its core utility function, the cooperative engages in volunteerism and philanthropy, supporting United Way and a range of arts, education, wellness, and local economic development initiatives.
