National Crime Prevention Council is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit focused on helping people and communities stay safe from crime. It creates and disseminates educational materials, community and school programs, and trainings, and runs public service announcements featuring McGruff the Crime Dog to raise awareness. The organization also supports a national coalition of crime prevention practitioners to coordinate efforts across local, regional, and national levels. NCPC serves communities, schools, and local, regional, and national agencies seeking practical prevention resources and strategies. In January 2025, the council participated in the Stockholm Criminology Symposium, illustrating its engagement in international dialogue on crime prevention.
