Our history is a story of experience, growth and entrepreneurial spirit that continues to this day.  We began helping employers find cost-effective benefit solutions in 1993. Under the leadership of the organization’s owners, J. Lawrence Hager and Christopher Gavigan, our firm (Charon Planning) quickly evolved into a thriving, full-service benefits consulting organization. 

In 2000, we joined NFP as a premier health and welfare practice with a strong regional presence. At that time, we were a boutique consulting firm and NFP was aspiring to become a national industry leader in the employee benefits marketplace. Fast forward to 2015 and we are one of the top firms in the region and NFP is one of the largest benefits brokers in the world. In addition to Health & Welfare benefits consulting, NFP has built best in class practice areas for Retirement Services, Executive Benefits, International Benefits, and Property & Casualty Insurance.
