NORDUnet operates a high-capacity network that links the national research and education networks of the five Nordic countries, serving more than 400 institutions and over 1.2 million users. It owns and runs its own fibre infrastructure and networking gear, along with hosting and video-conferencing services, positioning itself as a full-scale communications provider for the Nordic research and education communities. In addition, it functions as a system integrator, developing and delivering online learning and collaboration platforms by integrating solutions from multiple vendors.

The organization results from a collaboration among the Nordic NRENs DeiC, RHnet, Sikt, SUNET, and Funet, operating within the IT services and IT consulting sector in Denmark. Based in Kåstrup in the North Jutland region, Denmark, it has operated since 1994 and, in 2026, announced governance updates including the appointment of Guðmundur H Kjærnested as chair and the addition of Per Öster to the board.
