Based in San Francisco, ShelterTech is a technology-focused nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. It seeks to simplify access to resources that address immediate needs, help individuals secure permanent housing, and support them in pursuing stable, fulfilling lives. The organization operates on the principle that connectivity is essential and that solutions should be developed with and for the community. ShelterTech operates within the civic and social organizations sector and works to connect its community with support networks in the San Francisco area. In 2019–2020 the group undertook concrete projects, wiring several shelters with WiFi and producing user guides to navigate transition, as well as creating a digital directory of services. In April 2020, it launched sfserviceguide.org to provide COVID-19–specific resources and information about emergency services.
