Mathematically lossless Codecs. Pixspan has developed algorithms and software specific to different image types for maximum lossless compression at the fastest available speed. These high-performance algorithms are based on techniques that take a completely new approach than the industry standard JPEG’s twenty-year-old methods that rely on Wavelets and/or Discreet Cosine Transform (DCT). As such, Pixspan codecs achieve higher compression ratios and utilize less processing resources. 

Multi-threading and multi-processing. Today’s compute platforms include multi-core processors for greater speed and capacity. Pixspan makes the most use of these processors by distributing processing across all available platform resources. 

Fiber optics.  Highest speed data transmission is most efficient with fiber optics.  Whether inside a computer (Fiber Channel or Infiniband) or on the commercial network (gigabit Ethernet), Pixspan makes the most use of available fiber technology. 

Another differentiator for the Pixspan approach is the retention of intact metadata in compressed frames. This allows the frames’ metadata to be searched using the same tools that are available for searching uncompressed frames. This helps workflow processes to avoid uncompressing 

Pixspan is continually innovating, with both patented and patents pending technology. Pixspan code is proprietary, i.e. it utilizes no public domain sources for compression algorithms.
