The Connection, Inc. is a mid-sized nonprofit organization operating as a statewide, community-based human services agency in Connecticut. Based in Middletown, it has existed for more than five decades. The organization partners with individuals and families to connect them with resources that address homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and needs related to community justice rehabilitation. Each year it serves more than 8,000 people and operates 65 residential and outpatient sites across numerous Connecticut communities, including New Haven, Hartford, Middletown, Groton, Norwich, New London, Bridgeport, Danbury, Torrington, and Waterbury. It also runs the Institute for Innovative Practice, a social enterprise focused on training, professional development, and consultation for other organizations. The institute has trained thousands of professionals across more than 400 organizations and relies on a staff of nearly 500 to deliver these services. Proceeds from these activities are reinvested back into The Connection's programs to sustain ongoing support and transformation.
