New Bakery Company of Ohio, Inc. is a specialty baking company founded by Mr. L.S. Hartzog to make buns exclusively for Wendy’s Old Fashion Hamburgers. The bakery opened for business in Zanesville, Ohio April 1, 1979 and was purchased by Wendy’s in 1981. New Bakery Co. is a subsidiary of Wendy’s International whose headquarters are located in Dublin, Ohio. New Bakery currently employs approximately 370 people from Guernsey, Licking, Muskingum, Noble and Perry counties. Our production department produces 70 million dozen buns per year, using 70 million pounds of flour, 14 million pounds of sugar and 5 million pounds of shortening. New Bakery currently produces two types of buns, a four inch regular buns and a four and a half inch Kaiser bun. There are three production lines at our Airport Rd facility. Each line has the capabilities to produce 600, 800 and 1000 buns per minute per line. In November, 2001, New Bakery opened a second operating facility only a few miles away off of State Route 93 at the EastPointe Business Park in Zanesville, Ohio. The New Bakery EastPointe facility is a state of the art, high speed production line produces 1080 buns per minute. New Bakery distributes to 3030 Wendy’s restaurants in 34 states. The transportation fleet consists of 50 Tractor trailers and 2 flour truck tractors along with 55 trailers.
